Sister Ann Miriam Albrich died February 3, 1986, at the Faculty House, residence for the Sisters of the Holy Names, Marylhurst College. She was 72. Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Ann Miriam was celebrated February 6 in the Chapel of the Convent of the Holy Names at Marylhurst. Interment followed in the Holy Names Cemetery.
Clara Albrich was born in Salem where she attended elementary and high school. She entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of the Holy Names at Marylhurst in 1931 and later received the religious name Sister Ann Miriam. During 52 years she taught vocal, piano and instrumental music in Holy Names schools in Portland, Eugene, Seattle and Spokane. Sister earned degrees in music at both Marylhurst College and the University of Montreal.
In 1964, Sister Ann Miriam instituted the first music camp for children, later known as "Young Musicians and Artists" foundation. She also helped found a non-profit, non-sectarian cultural camp for children. She retired in 1985.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Nelson, and a brother, Frank Albrich, both of Salem.
