Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, a son of the late Eva May (Easton) Solomon and Francis Solomon, he had been a resident of North Kingstown most of his life. He had worked for the former Petrolane Gas Co. now Duke Energy Corp., Providence for 20 years before retiring in 1996.
Bob also served for 23 years in the Navy as a senior Chief and was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the East Greenwich American Legion Post 15, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 42, Washington Lodge 5, AF&AM.
A Golfer, he was a member of the West Warwick Country Club. He also volunteered with the AARP tax-aid program.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Robert E Solomon, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fl., Three daughters, Jennifer S Brennan, Amy L Hopkins, both of North Kingstown and Natalie H Nolan of Wakefield; four brothers, Francis Solomon of Weymouth, Mass., Richard Solomon of Lexington, Md., Kenneth Solomon of Brockton, Mass, two sisters; Barbara Rogers of Indiana and Joanne Solomon of Brockton, Mass and 12 Grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Monday, August 30, 2004 Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main Street, East Greenwich, RI. Burial with Military Honors was at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown, Rhode Island. His Grandson, Robert E. Solomon, III played taps graveside.
