Suzanne Irene Boda went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 28, 2013 at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born 102 years ago on July 25, 1911 at Burt Lake, Michigan to parents, John E. and Anna Z. (Parkey) Boda, and was the third born of 10 children. When she was young her parents moved to Pellston, Michigan where she attended school. She went on to put herself thru college, studying to become a teacher, with her first job as an assistant teacher in Levering, Michigan. She had 63 students that first year many of whom she could still remember. She continued to teach children through the primary grades for 30 years. Sue was a devout Catholic and Altar Society member, and kept busy as the church bookkeeper, organist, religious education instructor and led church activities and fundraisers. She also was housekeeper to Father Edmund J. Farrell throughout his priesthood. After his death, Sue moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be near her sister, Vi Warren and family. Those who have passed before her include her parents; brothers, Joseph, Daniel, Floyd and Thomas; and sisters, Blanche, Evelyn, Hazel and Delores. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly.
The funeral mass was celebrated by Father Craig Haider at St. Clement Catholic Church, Pellston, Michigan, Saturday, October 5, 2013. Following the committal at St. Clement Cemetery there was a luncheon at the church hall.
