Leah LaRue Funk Pederson, 80, of Orem, died Sunday, May 7, 1995, at her home.

She was born October 31, 1914 in Sterling, Sanpete County, Utah, a daughter of Alfred Farrel and Leah Evalinda Mickelson Funk.

She married George Venor Pederson April 17, 1935 in Logan, Utah.

The marriage was solemnized June 17, 1936 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Mrs. Pederson was raised and educated in Sanpete County.

She graduated from Manti High School and attended Utah State University.

She also graduated from beauty school in Salt Lake City.

After marriage she lived in Ephraim, Sterling, and Manti. She operated a beauty shop there for several years.

She moved to Orem 35 years ago with her family.

She is the mother of six children and just celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with her husband.

This lovely, dedicated lady has given much of her time and talents to the organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Generally ending up in the music program in which she has spent forty-one years.

Many of her music students are carrying on the musical expertise taught by Mrs. Pederson.

Survived by her husband, George, of Orem; her children and their spouses, Bonnie and George Brox, Midvale; Kathie and Warren Grames, Sandy; Ann and Stan Pope, Jana and Brad Hoover, Larry and Kirsten Pederson, all of Orem; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; her sisters and brothers, Reva Meyer, Louis Funk, Ted Funk, Phyllis Fife, all of California; Ethel Greene, Colorado; Barbara Barton, Richard Funk, both of Utah.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna, in 1945; and a sister and a brother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m. in the Orem Sharon Second Ward Chapel, 640 So. 400 East, Orem.

Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 600 East 800 No., Orem, and Saturday at the ward chapel from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Manti City Cemetery at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
