Obituary: ATHOL - Ione (Miller) Woodbury Rowe, 85, of 7 Westmoreland Road, Merrick, N.Y., formerly of Athol, died Saturday in Calvary Hospital, Bronx, N.Y.
Her husband of 28 years, Richard Rowe, died in 1981. She leaves a son, Arnold Woodbury of Merrick, N.Y.; a daughter, Marilyn Benner of Portland, Maine; a brother, Kenneth Miller of Northfield; two sisters, Ethel Carpenter and Florence Walker, both of Northfield; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. She was born in Gill, daughter of Leon and Lula (Hale) Miller, and had lived in Northfield and later lived in Athol for 26 years before moving to Merrick in 1993.
Mrs. Rowe was a licensed practical nurse at the former Gardner State Hospital. She was a member of Athol Congregational Church, Athol Grange No. 175, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary, Mt. Pleasant, No. 68, Franklin and Worcester Pomona Grange No. 4, Banner Rebekah Lodge No. 89, and Ladies of Kajat Zuanna No. 7 of Worcester.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut St. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Calling hours at Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Fund, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, N.Y. 10461-9935.
