Sarah Kirby Bailey, 66, of Cowpens, died at home Friday, January 26, 2007 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born April 9, 1940, Mrs. Bailey was the wife of Hale Bailey for 45 years. She was the daughter of the late Albert V. and Nellie Jackson Kirby.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of Cowpens First Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband Mrs. Bailey is survived by one daughter, Gay B. Mathis and her husband John of Spartanburg; one son, David H. Bailey II and his wife Gina of Chesnee; and four grandchildren, Brendall, Nate, Jake, and Kirby Mathis of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by one brother, Howard Kirby and two sisters, Leola K. Sanders and Betty K. Williams.
Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 28, at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29 at Cowpens First Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Aubrey Floyd and Rev. Ronell Owensby. Mrs. Bailey will lie in state 1:00-2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens
