Eddie was born the third son of James and Bessie Sweeney Gallagher. Born at the Homestead Casheloogary, County Donegal, Ireland.

Eddie came to US with his brother Michael Gallagher (my father). They sailed from Londonderry, on the ship Colombia, to NY arriving on 11/17/1912. They went to their cousin Rose Burke's house at 332 W 24th St in NY.

Eddie married Teresa Martin 1915 in the US. They had 7 Children. Eddie did go back to Ireland about 1917 til abt 1920. Because he was a member of the Rebel Army, and since he was still an Irish citizen, he was called back to serve in that Rebellion.

While in Ireland Eddie had a blacksmith shop in a little town called Ardara, County Donegal and his second child Bridget Teresa was born there in Ireland.

They returned to NY and settled in Long Island City, Queens NY. And raised their large family there. Teresa died young and Eddie remarried and had two more children.

Cashelogary is just now a wide spot in an unpaved lane. It seems to consist primarily now of sheep fields but the house from which your father and my grandfather emerged is a poignant ruins at the end of 'Gallagher's Lane", a name that the current owner a man by the name of Peter seems to continue to use.
