Darlene Phyllis Hamblin, 72, died Jan. 4, 2004 in Snowflake.

Mrs. Hamblin was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, and lived there for the first 15 years of her life. At that time she moved to Arizona and lived in Mesa for many years; In 1976 she moved to Springerville. At the time of her death she was living with her family in Snowflake. Mrs. Hamblin was known as an advocate for the elderly for many years. She has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since she was 19 years old, also a member of the Springerville First Ward. She loved the outdoors and always enjoyed trips into the White Mountains camping and fishing with her family.

Mrs. Hamblin is survived by her three sons, Stuart (Kim) Hamblin, Todd (Inndia) Hamblin and Jason (Terri) Hamblin, all of Snowflake; two daughters, Cheryl (Gerry) Knapp of Sacramento, California, Tammy Sullivan of Snowflake; one sister, Betty Morris of Las Vegas, Nevada; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Waldo Hamblin, Sr. and her son Waldo, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 10 at The Snowflake Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Fletcher's Mortuary in Snowflake. Internment will be in the Eagar Cemetery.
