Chico Enterprise-Record, no date: "James Moody Dies At Reusser Lane Home Friday Night. James Moody, a native of Butte County, died at his home of Reusser Lane late Friday evening. He was born on December 2, 1883, to Stephen and Nellie Moody. Following his schooling locally, Mr. Moody studied construction engineering and for several years following World War I, in which he served, he was with the United States Army as an engineer.
"Mr. Moody returned to this community and for many years was interested in mining in the Paradise area. For the past 20 years he had raised chickens. Mr.Moody was a member of American Legion Post 17 of Chico, Veterans of Foreign
Wars, Chico Post 1555, and the Chico chapter of the Native Sons of the Golden West.
"Survivors include two brothers, John Moody of Chico, and David H. Moody of Susanville, and a sister, Mrs. Alex Chaigneau, of Durham.
"Funeral services will be conducted in the Brusie Funeral home and the time will be announced later."
In a subsequent article, "Interment was in the Paradise Cemetery and casketbearers -- representing the VFW, American Legion and the Native Sons of the Golden West to which Mr. Moody belonged --- were Bert Reed, Dick Haun, Gordon Duncan, Carl Boller, James Hoar, and Troy Tallent."
