Daughter of Lewis Elmer and Elsie Mae (Hale) Alsup. On May 1, 1948, in Kansas City, MO., she was united in marriage to Ermal Leroy "Stu" Stewart, who preceded her in death on April 10, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers.
She is survived by one son, Robert Louis "Bob" Steward and wife, Peggy of Shell Knob; one daughter, Connie Sue Hubbard and husband, Bill of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Uel Alsup and wife, Betty of Nampa, Idaho and four grandchildren, Jameson Hubbard, Joshua Hubbard, Andrew Stewart and Kelsey Stewart.
Mary grew up near Willow Springs, MO, where she received her education and graduated from high school. She resided much of her life in Kansas City. The family moved to Shell Knob in 1967, where they owned and operated Hardman Hollow Resort and then Hillcrest Resort. Mary also enjoyed working at the Steak Inn and she formed many lasting friendships. She was a member of Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob. Some of her favorite pastimes were quilting, pottery, gardening, cooking and sewing, but her greatest joys in life were being a mom and grandmother.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 6, 2009, in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Reverend Teressa Clyde conducted the services. Burial was in Painter Cemetery, Shell Knob.
