Charles, born 27 June 1900, was the son of Theodore Ferner and Louise (Eyer) Ferner. He was a civil engineer employed by the City of Rochester as a surveyor and among the projects he worked on was the establishment of the city's reservoir system, in particular, the area around Honeoye Lake. He married Florence May Heard on 18 September 1937, in Salem Evangelical Church in Rochester, NY. They had two children, Jane Louise and Alan Charles. Charles died of prostate cancer in Brighton, NY, on 3 June 1990, just a few days short of his 90th birthday. He was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Range 7, SW ¼ of Lot 62 on 5 June 1900.
