I just (on March 13, 2010) discovered that her first name may have been Laura. I'm looking into it.

Married 1st to William H. Childress, had 3 daughters.
Married 2nd to Wm. Hume Marshall, had 4 children.
The town of Delina, TN was named after her. I am trying to connect if *I* am named after her. Does anyone know if she ever was a midwife? related to or friends with the Eastland family? Was she connected as a friend or relative or neighbor with Delina Wilson Eastland, who was born in 1832 to Hezekiah or Ezekiah Eastland and his wife Eliza Petty Eastland. I feel sure that that they named their daughter after her.

Delina Wilson Marshall Childress was about 19 years at my great great grandmother's birth. She was not yet married; so her name was just Delina Wilson. It seems as if 19 years may have been about the right age to be a midwife, or to be a beloved family friend, cousin, aunt??? or all of the above.

About 180 years later, and I carry the name of Delina.
