Emma Jane Zarr, 86, a resident of Kramm Health and Rehabilitation Center, Watsontown since January 2008, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009. She had been residing with her daughter and son-in-law in Turbotville for the past 12 years.

She was born July 25, 1928, in Northumberland County, a daughter of the late Norman P. and Mary Ellen (Bachman) Beck. On Feb. 14, 1943, she married Lloyd C. Zarr and they celebrated 52 years of marriage until his death Nov. 24, 1995.

Emma retired from GTE Sylvania of Montoursville and Muncy and had worked at Montgomery Mills earlier.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown, a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of the Watsontown American Legion and Marine Corps League and a life-member of the Muffly-Huff Post 8206, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Turbotville, where she enjoyed the VFW breakfasts and serving meals there.
Emma enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City, talking and meeting people, and visits from family and friends, especially while residing at Kramm's. But most precious to her were times spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Jack Mincemoyer of Turbotville; four grandchildren and spouses, Tina and Tom Applegate, Todd Mincemoyer, Rhonda Leech, and Sarah and Rob Smith; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John R. Beck and Jean Pfleegor and Max E. and Audrey Beck; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Geraldine and Bill Haines and Nancy amd Dick Kilgus, all of Watsontown.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald E. Zarr one Dec. 21, 2004, one granddaughter, Heather Zarr Aunkst, one great-granddaughter, Rena Mae Leech; two brothers, Elmer Beck (killed in the Battle of Normandy) and Charles Beck; and three sisters, Hazel Willett, Ruth Dentler, and Helen Byers.

Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville, where the Ladies Auxiliary of the Muffly Huff VFW Post 8206 will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Jill Seagle, her pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
