HOLY NAME SOCIETY'S PRESIDENT SUCCUMBS - JOHN H. HENNESSY, L&N SHOP FOREMAN, DIES AT HOSPITAL - JOHN M. HENNESSY, 67 years old, 658 South Sixth Street, president of the Holy Name Society in the Louisville Diocese, died at 4:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at SS. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, where he was taken Wednesday for an operation. Mr. Hennessy was a shop foreman at the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company, where he was employed for thirty-five years. He was a native of Louisville and attended St. Xavier High School. He also was president of the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, having taken an active interest in charity work for more than thirty years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Mr. Hennessy is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Motschman Hennessy; five sons, Robert Hennessy, Leo Hennessy, William Hennessy, James Hennessy and Edward Hennessy, of the United States Navy; five daughters, Miss Margaret Hennessy, Miss Alice Hennessy, Mrs. Charles W. Grey; Mrs. Joseph Anderson and Mrs. Eugene Carney, Buffalo, N.Y.; two brothers, Joseph Hennessy and William Hennessy, both employees of the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, and a sister, Sister Clare of the Sisters of Charity, Leonardstown, Md. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at the residence and at 9 o'clock at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
