Mrs. Allen was born Jan. 29, 1905, in Breese, Ill., the daughter of Samuel Theodore Jewett and wife Sophia Clara, nee Miller.
She received her education in Washington and St. Louis.
On June 29, 1927, she was united in marriage to Charles Cavnes Allen Sr. in St. Louis.
She worked for 27 years at Carmo Shoe Company, Union.
Mrs. Allen was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Union, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Gold Star Mothers organization.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1997; one son, Pfc. Raymond Charles Allen; one half sister Genevieve Jewett Downey; 10 brothers-in-law; and eight sisters-in-law.
She is survived by three sons, Lawrence Allen and wife Marilyn, Union, Albert Allen and wife Ruby, Leslie, and Charles Allen Jr. and wife, Merileen, Pacific; two daughters, Viola Schuler, and husband Kenneth, Sturgis, Mich., and Iola Jasper, and husband Donald, Sunrise Beach; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Ode, St. Louis, and Rosemary Allen, Wentzville; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 23, at Immaculate Conception Church, Union, with Monsignor Matthew Mitas officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Memorials to the Immaculate Conception School Building Fund or Regional Hospice, Lebanon, are preferred.
The family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
