Elsie Rebecca Rosentrater Files, 94, of North Platte, died July 20, 2005. She was born May 29, 1911, to Gustav H. Rosentrater and Minnie George. She had four sisters and two brothers. Rose, M. Louise, Goldie, Esther, George and Gus. All preceded her in death.On May 18, 1935, she married Floyd Files. They lived on the Pawnee Ranch in Maxwell. They had one child, Richard Lloyd Files. They were married for 36 years before Floyd passed away in 1971.Mrs. Files was a schoolteacher in Brady for many years and also worked for Lincoln County. She joined the North Platte Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in April 1977, worked in 26 different areas of the organization and received several awards for her services. These include: Service to Mankind Award 1994, Friend of Tourism Award 1996, United Way Gold Award 1996, Service to Mankind District Award 1994-1995, The President's Call to Service Award 2004 and RSVP 25 Years of Service Award - 8,428 hours. Elsie was also a part of Living History. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte. Elsie enjoyed traveling on camping trips with her family. She also took several bus tour trips including a visit to Alaska's Arctic Circle. Elsie's son Richard passed away Aug. 13, 2003. Surviving are her beloved grandchildren whom she adored, Devin Dwight Files of Kansas City, Mo., Christina Paige Files of Portland, Ore.; daughter-in-law, Roberta Nailling-Files of Leawood, Kan.; step-grandchildren, Cary and R. Todd Powers; step-great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Justin Powers; niece, Kay Maxfield (O'Dean); and nephews, Larry O'Dean, Raymond Blede, Gary and David Rosentrater, Bob and Jim Dillin.The family would personally like to thank Ora Clouse, Lori and Neil Reutzel, Todd and Amber Klein and Larry and LaVona Lemons for their love, support and friendship during Elsie's lifetime. Graveside services will be at the North Platte Cemetery.
