Harold Newswanger, 80, was machinist
Harold E. "Peanut" Newswanger, 80, of 2177 Kolb Drive, formerly of Bareville, died Saturday at home. He was ill since October.
Newswanger was a machinist for J. L. Clark, Inc., Lancaster. He retired after 42 years.
A U. S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.
He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Lancaster.
He also belonged to Zembo Shrine, Blue Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons 43, Lancaster; and Harrisburg Consistory.
He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, painting and cooking at his church and Beulah Land Hunting Camp.
Born in White Horse, he was the son of the late Henry K. and Edith Ammon Newswanger.
He was married 57 years in April to Susie Trout Newswanger.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Sandra L., married fo Ralph E. Hull, Jr. of Lancaster; a granddaughter; two sisters, Dorothy, married to Ralph Arment of Lititz, and Sara Ford of Honey Brook; and a brother, Vernon A., married to Janice Newswanger of Millersville.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Erma Spangler, Florence Mellinger and Mildred Harnish; and a brother, Robert.
