Gravestones of George and Ruth (Doane) Clark. Picture was taken on 10 March 2010 by Sue Sexton and is used with her permission. At the foot of George Clark's gravesite is another headstone of his commemorating his Revolutionary War service as a Private in Captain Thomas Converse's Company in Colonel Herman Swift's 2nd Connecticut Regiment. George served in the war for 3 years and received a Pension Certificate #437, dated 17 April 1818. George was born on 25 August 1763 in Saybrook, Middlesex, CT and died July 14, 1845, at the age of 82 years. Both George and his wife Ruth are buried in the Winthrop Cemetery, Section 3, Winthrop, (3 miles west of Deep River), Saybrook, Middlesex, CT.
