RUTH DOANE (Elkanah, Prence, Israel, Daniel, John) was born at Saybrook, Conn., that part now called Westbrook, Feb. 24, 1768 and died there May 19, 1843. She married Apr. 13, 1786, George Clark, who was born at Saybrook, now the town of Essex, Aug. 25, 1763 and died July 14, 1845 (both buried in Winthrop cemetery), the son of George and Bathsheba (Pratt) Clark. Mr. Clark was a Revolutionary soldier, having enlisted at the age of sixteen years in the Second Regt., Col. Heman Swift, Capt. Thomas Converse's Co. In the same company, were his brothers in law, Joel and Josiah Doane, and his cousin Richard Doane (187). Mr. Clark also enlisted in Capt. William Richards' Co., the same Regt., for three years. They lived in Winthrop, town of Saybrook.
