Anderson County news Saturday, June 20, 1914
The oldest man in Anderson County passed to his reward Sunday at the ripe age of 102 [actual 89] years. He was Commodore Cook [Argubright] a prosperous farmer residing near Clinton and known to everyone as the dean of the community. Deceased was a veteran of the Mexican War and the Civil War. He was a member of the Second Tennessee and was one of the soldiers placed in the Andersonville prison, together with a number of Clinton men. The hardships these brave men suffered in that odious prison have been made a part of the history of the republic and their names carved on a parchment of honor among their fellow men. After the civil war, deceased returned to Clinton and engaged in farming. The funeral services were held Monday, the remains being consigned to rest in Stair cemetery.
