Joseph David Carr, youngest son of James and Sally Carr, was born near Sigel, Shelby County, Ill., on Dec. 14, 1854 and died May 11, 1930, at his home near Somerset, Nebraska, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 28 days. He was married to Nancy Rankin on Jan. 1, 1880 in Shelby County, Ill. To this union four children were born, Willard of Wallace, Nebr., Claudie McHale and Myrtle Palmer of Portland, Oregon and Ann Baker of Madrid, Nebr. Mrs. Carr died Jan. 19, 1891. He came to Nebraska in Febr., 1892. On Nov. 28, 1894 he was married to Nola Stoughton of Red Cloud, Nebr. To this union ten children were born: Arthur of Paxton, Nebr.; Charley of Los Angeles, Calif.; Rosco of Wellfleet, Nebr.; Selma Lamb, Albert, Louis, Walter, James, Edgar and Clarence, all of Somerset, Nebr. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, fourteen children, nineteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother, Edward F. of Effingham, Ill., two sisters, Anna Rust of Gillette, Wyo., Ella Westinghouse, Scio, Ore. All the children were present at the funeral services except Chas. of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. McHale and Mrs. Palmer of Portland, Oregon.
