Blanche C. Aune, 96

Blanche C. Aune, 96 of Hammond and formerly of Baldwin died Wednesday, Oct. 8, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

She was born Jan. 16, 1907, in West Hope, N.D., the daughter of Alexander Michael and Mary (Shaska) Boucher. She attended West Hope and Sturgis Township country Schools in North Dakota.

On March 28, 1929, she was united in marriage to Arthur Aune in Bottineau, N.D. She was proud of her family and being a homemaker on the farmstead. She enjoyed doing chores, cooking and tending to the chickens and was an excellent gardner. She also enjoyed fishing and dancing.

Survivors are her children, Bernise (Bill) Giefer of St. Paul, Arlis (Ken) Johnson of Baldwin, Thor (Karen) Aune and Gene (Audrey) Aune, both of Hammond, two sons-in-law, Don Martin of Falcon Heights, Minn., and James Allen of Mounds View, Minn.; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

Proceding her in death were her husband, Arthur; three daughters, June Hedin, Twila Martin, and Mary Allen; a son-in-law, Bob Hedin, two grandchildren; a great-grandchild, two brothers, Julius and Frank Boucher; and two sisters, Lila (Leo) Weber and Margaret (Don) Findlay.

The funeral service was 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the United Methodist Church in Hammond with Pastor Carrie Hamm officiating. Organist Phyllis Chapin accompanied vocalist Deb Willink.

Burial was in the Baldwin Cemetery with David Aune, Robert Aune, Eric Aune, Jeff Johnson, Michael Giefer, Tom Martin, Steve Martin, Doug Johnson, Greg Giefer and Kendall Johnson as casketbearers.

The O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin handled arrangements.
