Rebecca E. Craycraft McCabe was born in Licking county, Ohio May 23, 1944, died at her home in Foresman, June 3, 1910, aged 66 years and 10 days.

She came from Ohio to Illinois in company with her parents when but a child 4 years of age.

While living in Illinois, October, 16, 1864 she was married to James J. McCabe. They took up their residence in the state of Illinois and continued to reside there until 1884, at which time they moved to this community where they have since resided.

To this union there were born 7 children, 5 boys and two girls. The oldest boy Joseph M. preceded his mother to the other life some years ago. The surviving children are James A. of Goodland, Mrs. Sarah C. Lowe of Brook, Philip S. of Iowa, Mrs. Eckard, of Peoria, Illinois and Charles E. and Earl L. of Auglin, Washington.

She first united with the United Brethren Church in Illinois when about 12 years old. Then after moving to Foresman she with her husband united with the U.B. Church in Brook, of which church she remained a faithful, true, and consistent member until death.

For a number of years she has been in poor health and during the past year has failed rapidly but not until three days before the death summons came did she confine herself to the bed. The splendid grace of Christian patience and courage was continually manifested in her life. All through her sickness she was solicitous of others, welware and not her own. Her great anxiety was to see her boys who were away, two of whom are in the state of Washington, but she was fully resigned to the will of God.

Her last day spent with her earthly friends, which was the Sabbath day was spent in making arrangements for her departure. This she did with perfect peace and composure. While others wept as they stood about the bedside, yet there were no tears for her eyes, "God had wiped themall away."

The admonition she gave to her companion and children was in keeping with her Christian life of devotion and love. Her last admonition was to her little grandson.

At 9 o'clock on the Sabbath eve her spirit took its flight to the land beyond. A fitting closing of a life which had been so well spent in the Master's service, and so truly devoted to her home and loved ones. No language can picture or calculate the value of a life that has been so lived to this world.

The funeral service was held at the Foresman Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. conducted by her pastors Revs. W.P. and Alice Noble. The church was beautifully decorated and the floral tributes were elaborate. A large concourse of neightbors and friends were present to pay tribute of respect to the life and character of the deceased.

After the service the body was laid to rest in the Brook cemetery.

She leaves a companion, six children, twenty grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.

The family has the sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement.
