She was born June 19, 1917, in Bellwood, a daughter of the late Ethel Rae.
Mrs. Weight was a member of Appleby Manor United Presbyterian Church of Ford City. She and her husband, Clyde, owned and operated Weights Upholstery in both Kittanning and Ford City since 1968. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Kittanning. She enjoyed making and sending birthday and Christmas cards, doing crafts, making teddy bears and dolls for her grandchildren, camping, dancing and going to card parties.
Leah is survived by one daughter, Joy McIlwain and husband, Denny, of Kittanning; four sons, Clyde Harry Weight and wife, Ann, of Tyrone, Ronald L. Weight and wife, Ikuko, of Dunkirk, Md., Barry L. Weight and wife, Judy, of Home, and Denis Weight and wife, Joan, of Ford City; two brothers, Robert J. Rupert, of Ford City, and Ernest Rupert Jr. and wife, Vivian, of Kittanning; one sister, Cherie Johnson, of Kittanning; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and her special dog, Sandy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Harrison Weight, who died June 12, 1999.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the WELCH FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Herb Reefer officiating.
