In loving memory of my grandfather, Lawrence Migliara, Sr. He was born in Bassignana, Italy on June 12, 1894. He was a WWI veteran and a German POW. After the war, he immigrated with several of his brothers through Ellis Island in 1920. He lived in Chicago for awhile and then permanently settled in Memphis, TN, where he opened a grocery store.
He married my grandmother,Vincenzina Angelina Vescovo in 1932, at an American counsulate in Genoa, Italy. They had three children, Ernest Migliara(who died in infancy), Claudina M. Pryor, (my mother), and Lawrence Migliara. PawPaw had seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He loved his adopted country and always believed there were opportunities here like nowhere else on earth.
