Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be two hours before services. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery with military rites.
Herbert was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Pierre, S.D., the son of Herbert W. and Effie Nowlin Cochran. He served his country as a captain in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a fighter pilot in New Guinea and the South Pacific, where he flew 125 combat missions. He was employed by A.E. Staley Mfg. Co. as a foreman for 39 years. He was a member of the VFW Oren L. Davis Post 99 and the Elks. He married Betty J. Park of Decatur on June 7, 1942. She preceded him in death in 1971.
Surviving is his son, Jay Cochran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Erma Bell; and brother, Jack Cochran.
