William F. Alexander, Jr., 85, of Greenville, loving husband of Clara Marchbanks Alexander, died December 30, 2010.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late William and Nealy Mae Alexander.

William served in the U.S. Army and was the owner of Alexander Awning.

He was a member of Trinity Way Baptist Church and a Shriner.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step-daughter, Tammy P. Hobeika (Michael) of Myrtle Beach; his step-son, Joe F. Pitts (Krysty) of Greenville; and his grandson, Andy Thompson (Cindy) of NJ.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Imogene Best Alexander; a daughter, Joyce Gail Thompson; a step-daughter, Clara Elizabeth Pitts; and two sisters, Lucille A. Holcombe, and Mrs. Lloyd Gilstrap.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2011, in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with burial following at Graceland Cemetery, West.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Way Baptist Church, 4113 Old Buncombe Road, Greenville, SC 29617.

The family will be at the home.
