Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 at Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery for Alma Gunter Jones Countryman, 101, who passed away Friday, June 19, 2015.
Mrs. Countryman was born May 1, 1914 in St. Clair County. She lived in Birmingham, returned to Ashville, then moved to Etowah County and to Talladega. She was a homemaker and loved canning and gardening. She loved all kinds of flowers. Mrs. Countryman enjoyed fishing at the river or just sitting on an old creek bank. She also loved to barbeque. She was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Andrew Gunter; mother, Myrtie Putman Gunter Whisentant; husbands, Clyde Jones, and Roy Countryman; son, David Jones; daughter, Katherine Jones Thompson; son-in-law, Ira Thompson; sisters, Elizabeth McCarthey, and Calvin Cock; and brother, Buck Gunter.
