Mrs. Maggie Laura Carter Byrd, 103 of Blackshear (Pierce Co), passed away late Wednesday evening (March 17, 2010) at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross following a brief illness.
Born and reared in Bacon County, Mrs. Byrd had lived all of her adult life in Pierce County. She was a homemaker along with helping her husband on the farm. Mrs. Byrd was a member of the Mershon Methodist Church.
She was a daughter of the late Luther Alexander Carter & Mary Kizzie Carter and was also preceded in death by her husband, Graden Darvin Byrd; three sisters, Lois Lassitter, Myrtice Hazelton, Bonnie Green; three brothers, Hoke Carter, Dorcey Carter, Fulton Carter; and a great grandson, Clinton Byrd.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ken & Ann Byrd of Blackshear; a sister, Melba Williams of Waycross; three grandchildren, Jerry & Lisa Byrd, Danny Byrd, Terry & Cammie Scallorn; five great grandchildren, Shane Byrd, Adam Byrd, Christopher Byrd, Crystal Byrd, David Scallorn; four great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation:
The family will receive friends Friday evening (March 19, 2010) from 6 until 8 o'clock at the funeral home.
