Arthur Ballard who was killed on the battlefields of France on October 4th 1918, was buried here last Wednesday. Rev. C.E. Hitt conducting the funeral services.

Corporal Arthur R Ballard was one of 28 men of the 96th Co., 2nd Div, 6th Marine Regt KIA on October 3, 1918, in the initial assault on Blanc Mont Ridge.

'To be able to say when this war is finished, "I belonged to the 2nd Div, I fought with it at the Battle of Blanc Mont Ridge" will be the highest honour that can come to any man' - Maj-Gen John A Lejeune USMC.
