Aaron D. Coffin

Aaron D. Coffin, a native of and formerly an extensive farmer and hop grower of the town of Middlefield,passed away at his home at East End, Oneonta, Tuesday morning at 6:30 o'clock, following a critical illness of three weeks, though he had been in ill health for several months.
Born, October 10, 1844, the son of
Farrand S. and Harriet North Coffin,
he passed much of his life in his native
town. There on May 13, 1864, he was united in marriage with Charlotte Parshall of the same town, and their married life continued until October 2, 1923, when she passed away.
Following his farming experience
in Middlefield he removed to Oneonta
about forty-two years ago and for a
considerable time was superintendent
and chief owner of the Oneonta Fertilizer
company, which operated quite
extensively at East End, near his late
home. Later when that business was
discontinued, he removed to Oakfield,
near Buffalo, where he had a similar
business, which he continued for eighteen
years. Then returning to Oneonta he followed small fruit growing at East End, being fond of the trees and fruits. He produced many varieties,
which found favor among resident of the city.
Surviving him are one son, Gilbert P. Coffin of No.9. Parish avenue, Oneonta, one daughter, Mrs. Rufus J. Torrey of No. 1 Irving Place that been devoted to him during his last illness. Mr. Coffin had a wide circle 0f friends, who will learn with deep regret of his passing.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon
at 1 o'clock at his late home the Rev. Charles S. Pendleton officiating, and burial was made in the cemetery at Middlefield
