Russel F. "The Beautiful One" Mayfield , 85, Topeka, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, in Topeka.

He was born April 25, 1918, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to Fred and Ora Ellen Walker Mayfield.

He lived in Fredonia before moving to Topeka in 1946.

Mr. Mayfield Graduated in 1935 from Waxahachi Bible College in Texas. He worked for Sears in hardware department for 25 years and was a foreman at Parsons Ammunition Depot.

He was a Deacon for life at Family of God Church. Founding member and Board Member For Glad Tidings Assembly of God Evangel Temple Church and Family of God Full Gospel Church.

He married Kathryn Eleanor Manning on Nov. 16, 1936, in Oswego. They were married for 66 years.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Staci Lynn Rice in 1971.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Mayfield, Topeka; two daughters, Delta Rice, and Carol Morstorf, both of Topeka, a son, the Rev. Rusty Mayfield, Topeka; seven grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Family of God Full Gospel Church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Mayfield will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
