Sister of Local Woman Killed Saturday
Mrs. Martha Kay Dickerson, 27, of Tempe, Arizona, was found dead of gunshot wounds late Saturday night in the bed of the Salt River near there.
The former Martha Kay Landreth of Hollis, she was the sister of Mrs. Don Jones of Wellington. She had been shot six times with a .32 calibre pistol, apparently fired at close range, it was reported. Her 29-year-old husband, Boyd, of Tempe, was charged with first degree homicide Monday by the Maricopa County sheriff's office. Dickerson reportedly was taken into custody when he drove up at the river scene where officers were searching for clues.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dickerson were held Wednesday at 4 p.m., at the Church of Christ in Hollis, of which she was a member. Earl Bracheen, minister, officiated and burial was in Fairmount Cemetery there. Mrs. Dickerson was graduated from Arnett High School. She and Mr. Dickerson were married in June 1960 and moved to Tempe about four years ago.
Survivors other than her husband include twin sons, Clifford and Clinton of Tempe; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Landreth of Hollis; a grandfather, William Hughes of Lubbock; sisters, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Herbert Huskins of Leadville, Colo., Mrs. Bill Hazelwood of Bellingham, Wash., and Miss Sue Landreth of Dallas; and brothers, Claude L. Landreth ol Alva, Okla., W. F. Landreth of Cupertino, Calif., and Kenneth Landreth of Tempe.
