Rebecca Sue Harrison Baker
1941-2010
Rebecca Sue Harrison Baker passed away Tuesday, March 9.
She born on February 16, 1941, to Sam G. Harrison and Lena Estelle Huebotter Harrison in Houston, where she was also raised.
She was married to Gerald Lee Baker, of Bandera and Paige, Texas.
Rebecca graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. A 50-year sister in the Delta Gamma Sorority, she was the major force behind the formation of the Reach to Recovery, benefiting the American Cancer Society. Rebecca was also the founder of the Ride for Research, which also benefited the ACS.
One of her lifelong passions was breeding, riding and showing paint and quarterhorses in local and national competitions. She also loved trail riding with her friends and family. A true Texas cattle rancher, Rebecca and her husband Jerry ran a successful cattle outfit for 39 years.
She was an active member in the Bandera United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the fellowship and company of the "cut-ups."
After moving to Bandera, Rebecca realized her dream of home design and interior decorating. She was always a lady – poised and graceful with a mischievous twinkle in her eye, a song in her heart and a smile to the world.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Jerry, of Bandera; brother Sam Harrison Jr. of Houston; Mrs. Ellen White of Chappell Hill; and daughters, Holly Ann Baker of Seligman, Arizona, and Heidi Lynn Wyatt of Pipe Creek, as well as a large family of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services took place at Bandera United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 13, officiated by Mr. Don Giles and Reverend Everett Boyce. Interment followed at the family ranch in Bandera.
