Jewell was born in Rodney, Arkansas to Hervey Gunade & Elsie Frances Jane (Williams) Hall. Jewell grew up in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and on October 12, 1939 married William Bufford King in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Bufford & Jewell lived in Houston, Texas and raised one daughter, Rebecca. They later moved to Independence, Missouri where Bufford passed away on April 26, 1966.
Jewell married Richard F. (Bud) Barthel on March 13, 1967 in Independence. After Bud,s retirement as Fire Chief of the Independence Fire Department, they moved to their farm near Stockton, Missouri. Jewell & Bud spent many happy years on their farm raising cattle & gardening. Bud passed away on October 2, 1982 and in 1985 Jewell moved to Lake View, Iowa with her daughter Becky. Jewell passed away at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, Iowa.
Jewell loved gardening, canning & baking all the fruit & vegetables she raised. In later years tending to her plants & flowers. Jewell was an avid reader of everthing from biographies to science fiction.
Jewell is survived by her daughter Becky, granddaughters Melissa & Natalie also sisters Lillian Faye Southard & Anna Belle Murry. She was preceded in death by brothers Garland, Howard, Phillip & Charles and two sisters, Mary Ellen Barnes & Bonnie Lee Bywaters.
