His brothers were John McConnell of Moberly, MO. Andrew McConnell of Springfield, IL. Arthur McConnell of Coffeyville, KS & William McConnell of Quincy, IL. He operated a farm west of Coffeyville, owned a boarding house in Coffeyville, KS called The Forest House and co-owned the Star Mills with his brother Arthur. The also hauled freight for the U.S. Government between Coffeyville, Ks. and Fort Reno, Oklahoma. Edward and his family operated a horse ranch east of Carlton, Washington on Texas Creek for many years. His wife was Emma Jane (Barrett) McConnell born Medina, Ohio. His brother Arthur died in 1905 and is buried at Calvary Cemetery at Coffeyvill with his wife Eugenia (Bettendorff) McConnell.
