Obituary:

Mabel Hayes, age 87 years, passed away around 11:38 p.m. Friday evening, March 19, 2010 at Eagle Creek Nursing Center in West Union, Ohio.

She was born in Fleming County, Kentucky, on April 21, 1922 the daughter of the late Harvey Boyd and Ella Mae Helphenstine Boyd.

Mabel was a member of the Peebles Church of Christ in Christian Union on Portsmouth Road in Peebles, Ohio and an honorable member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by several loved ones, including: Her first husband and the father of her children, Denver Wilson Williams, son of Charles Williams and Selma Lenore VanMeter Williams, of the Mt. Joy area of Scioto County, Ohio; second husband, Earl Waldren, of Peebles, Adams County, Ohio; and third husband, Floyd Junior Hayes, of Gray Hawk, Jackson County, Kentucky; her son, Charles T. "Buddy" Williams, of Peebles, Adams County, Ohio; daughters Barbara Ann Hughes of Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida, and Selma Karen Tolliver, of Mt. Joy, Scioto County, Ohio; step-mother, Mallie Fultz Boyd, of Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio; brother Charles "Charlie" Boyd, of Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio, and half-brother, Simon "Bucky" Boyd, also of Mansfield; sons-in-law Jerry Eugene Dunn, of Locust Grove, Adams County, Ohio, and James "Sonny" Hughes, of Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida; and by great grandson Bradley Eugene Dunn of Peebles, Adams County, Ohio.

She is survived by daughter Peggy Dunn of Peebles, Adams County, Ohio; daughter-in-law Goldie Ann Riley Williams of Berea, Kentucky; son-in-law David Tolliver of Otway, Scioto County, Ohio; half-brother Jack Boyd of Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio, five half-sisters; Alma (Boyd) Lawhorn, Martha (Boyd) Miller, Nellie (Boyd) Strubhar, Ruby (Boyd) Ball, and Dorothy Boyd all of Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio; twelve grandchilden, eighteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Peebles Church of Christ in Christian Union with Dave Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Joy United Presbyterian Cemetery in Scioto County, Ohio.

Friends attended visitation on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Peebles Church of Christ in Christian Union. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., also in the church. Wallace-Thompson Funeral Homes of Peebles was in charge of the arrangements.
