THOMAS B. BARTON, Esq., one of our oldest and most respected lawyers, breathed his last at his residence yesterday about 10 o'clock, in the 80th year of his age. Mr. Barton served as a Lieutenant in the war of 1812, was for many years a Commissioner in Chancery, and up to 1869 held the post of Commonwealth's Attorney for Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County. He was noted for his liberal hospitality, and goes to his rest mourned by a wide circle of relatives and friends in a community where he was admired and respected for many excellent qualities of head and heart.

Married Susan C. Stone in Virginia, 1820; daughter of William S. Stone of Fredericksburg, Va.

Second son, Edward Barton died at the age of two, December 6, 1823.

Daughter Mary Elizabeth married William Strother Jones, 1850; Elizabeth died 1868.

Daughter Susan Caroline married Rev. William Tilghman Johnston,1866; Susan died at Waverley, near Baltimore,Maryland on April 2nd, 1876.

Daughter Emily Stone married F. W. Brune, Jr of Baltimore, Maryland on February 2, 1853.
