Leon Childers, 77, Altus, died Friday morning, November 20, 2009 at his home with his family at his side. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2009 at Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with Erin Martinez, Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Leon was born December 22, 1931 in Emma, Kentucky to Foster and Lula (Branham) Childers. He graduated from Prestonsburg, Kentucky High School. He married Hazel Frazier at Carlswell AFB, Fort Worth, Texas on October 30, l955. He entered the Air Force in 1952 and retired with a rank of MSGT in 1973. He was Assistant Recreation Director for the City of Altus Recreation from 1974 – 1980. He enjoyed all of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, Don Childers and wife Vanesa of Lake Dallas, TX; Ronnie Childers and wife Kelly of Altus; and two daughters, Terri Davis and husband Brien of Altus; Sherri Jones and husband David of Hollis; seven grandchildren, Toby Childers of Lake Dallas, TX.; Dusty Davis and Amanda of Altus; Matt (Spud) Davis of Altus; Logan Childers and wife Sara of Hollis; Cole Childers and Cade Childers of Altus; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Davis, Katie Beth Davis of Altus and Macy Childers of Lake Dallas, TX.; two brothers, Amon Childers and wife Peachie and Wendell Childers and wife Patty of Barborsville, West Virginia.
