In 1805, Jacob Clark came from Orange County (to Candor, NY) and bought in the east part of town the first farm sold from the Isaac Bronson purchase of 10,000 acres. His family came to the settlement with a team of horses. His brother, Samuel Clark, came a little before. The next summer, he bought the farm now owned by his nephew, Hiram Clark.
