Mother may have been Thankful ABBOTT (28 Mar 1768 in Wallingford - 1824), although Foote genealogies show him as the son of Lucretia PAGE and Lyman Hall FOOTE.

Married first, Ann Treadwell Platt in Aug 1821 at Plattsburgh, NY; she died in October 1832 at Fort Winnebago, Michigan Territory (now Portage, WI); she is apparently buried at the Fort Crawford Military Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Memorial #9452992, based upon fragmentary burial records, originally listed her as Ann T. Lyman [sic] Foot.

He married second, Mary Morris Cooper in September 1836.

Surgeon, U.S. Army. Graduated with a medical degree from Yale in 1816 and entered the Army in August 1818. Spent much of his life at various military posts on the frontier, and served in the Black Hawk, Florida, and Mexican Wars.

He died on active duty on the Texan frontier while serving as Medical Director for the forces under the command of General Wool during the Mexican War (recorded as "Present, Sick" in the September 1846 Post Report from San Antonio de Bexar, Texas in the list of General Staff officers headed by Colonel Sylvester Churchill, Inspector General).

Buried at Lakewood Cemetery in Cooperstown according to New York, Veteran Burial Cards, 1861-1898 online database at Ancestry.com, based upon original data from the New York State Military Museum's Veteran Burial Locations file.
