Cause of Death: Heart attack, passed in his sleep. World War II Veteran and Purple Heart recipient from injuries received at Omaha Beach on D-Day, retired from Oxnard Air Force Base 1952-1970 (now Camarillo Airport) as a civilian Federal Fire Captain, affiliated in farm leagues with New York Yankee Baseball Organization as a pitcher/catcher 1946-1947. He was a volunteer firefighter for Ventura County Fire Department 1955-1967 at Station 31 in Thousand Oaks. He worked for American Hawaiian Land Company who built Westlake Village. Maintenance man who could fix almost anything. Also worked for Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo in maintenance and finally passed away while working as a facilities manager at Exxon America Corporation Regional Office in Thousand Oaks. Walt was truly a real man's man and would help anyone. A wonderfully devoted husband, father and friend.
