Mr. Kennedy was born July 25, 1957, in Amarillo to Paul F. Kennedy and Carole Aska Kennedy. After graduating from Amarillo High School in 1975, he worked for Dekco Manufacturing where his love for woodworking began. Mark began his career with Amarillo College in 1979 and retired in June 2009 after 30 years of dedicated service as superintendent of maintenance. It was there where Mark became known for his perfection and determination to get the job done right.

Mark enjoyed working and playing hard and was known for his love and dedication to his family and loyalty to his friends and co-workers.

Mark's interests were endless. He enjoyed fishing, boating, four-wheeling and remodeling to name a few. He had a great love for animals, the great outdoors, and was an accomplished craftsman. He wholeheartedly lent a helping hand to all in need. His kindness to others has come back tenfold over the last several months as countless others have stepped in to see that his many wishes and needs were fulfilled. Mark was loved dearly and will be missed deeply by all.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Kennedy; two children, Matthew and Marki Kennedy; four stepsons, Ryan and wife Bekah, Brady, Brandon and wife Jami and Dylan Woodfin; four grandchildren, Mackinlee, Ethan, Cameron and Brandon, all of Amarillo; his mother, Carole Kennedy, his father, Paul Kennedy and wife Judy, and a sister, Christine and husband Ken Weston, all of Amarillo; a sister, Carole Kennedy of Dallas; a brother, Paul Kennedy and wife Sarah of Atlanta, Ga.; a stepsister, Laurie Green, and a stepbrother, Kevin Pendley; two nieces, Ashley and husband Ben Rollins and Elizabeth Weston, all of Amarillo; and his loving dog, Mikey.

On behalf of Mark, the family wishes to thank all who loved him and stood by his side, prayed, visited and called to check on him during his battle with cancer. The family also would like to thank Furr's on Soncy for allowing Annie to take the time off she needed to care for her husband.
