Paul was employed by Short Line Bus Co., New Kensington, Pa. He was inducted into military service on April 16, 1944, and trained at Ft. George G. Meade, Md.,Ft. North Texas, and Camp Chaffee, Ark. He was sent overseas on December 24,1944. He served in General Patton's Third Army, 87th Infantry Division. Paul was shot and killed in Reuth, Germany. His unit was making their advance under heavy enemy resistance when he was hit in the chest by enemy small arm fire. Upon his death, he was buried in the U S Military Cemetery #1, at Foy, Belgium. After the war, his remains were brought back to the United States. He was acting Staff Sergeant at the time of his death. The official promotion had not come through yet.
