William Franklin Ferrell’s parents were originally from Mississippi, but William was born in Huntsville, Texas. He settled early in life in Morgan’s Point. He married Annie Reta Ayers in 1908 when he was 28 and she was 18. William had a third grade education, and he worked as a fisherman and as a fireman in an oil refinery, and also as an oil field worker. Anna and William raised their family in Morgan’s Point and lived there for the rest of their lives. They bought a house in 1920 and a radio in 1930 and sent their children to school. They had six children between 1910 and 1931. By 1940, William was disabled, and Anna worked as a seamstress for the government on salary. William died in 1944 at age 63 and is buried in Morgan’s Point Cemetery.
