A requiem mass was celebrated Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Manley, for James F. Boardman, 88, who died February 1, 1974.
The Rev. Peter Gadient was the celebrant. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Plattsmouth. Pallbearers were Edward Van Horn, Jerry Twomey, Robert Stander, Louis Noble, John Little, and Tim Wade.
James F. Boardman was born Aug. 14, 1885, the son of the late Frank H. and Susan C. (Cogdill) Boardman.
He was married to Minnie Regina Grauf on Jan. 30, 1907 at Nebraska City.
He spent his life in farming starting around the Union and Nebraska City area; later he farmed in the northeastern part of the state. He also Homesteaded in Wyoming and later farmed in western Nebraska for 15 years before retiring in 1957 and moving back to Weeping Water. He resided with his son, Frank, at the time of his death.
Mr. Boardman was a communicant of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Manley.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 16, 1964. Also by a brother, Charles, a sister, Ora Dell Anderson, and a half sister, Leone Erickson.
Survivors include four sons, Lawrence of Louisville, Tony and Frank, both of Weeping Water, Charles of Martinez, CA; a daughter, Mrs. Elton (Linnie)Hermann of Gretna; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one step-son, Lee Grauf of Plattsmouth, a sister, Emma Slagle of Mesa, AZ; three half brothers, Arch of Hartington, Chester of Crofton, and Albert of Norwalk, CA; two half sisters, Velma Hageman of The Dalles, OR, and Margie Stanley of Portland, OR.
