Funeral services for Mrs. Lorana Catherine Hardin, 96 years of age, were held in the Bluff Creek Christian church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. Herbert Buchanan, of Argus, Ind., a former pastor of the church. Burial was in Mallow cemetery.
Mrs. Hardin died at 2 o'clock on Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Omer Dunn, east of Waverly in White River township, the first death to occur there in more than 57 years.
She was born in a farm in White River township on May 19, 1847, the daughter of Isaac Humbert and Martha Mallow Humbert. She was married in 1869 to Joseph (John) Hardin on the farm where the death occurred, and lived the rest of her life there with the exception of the 16 years between 1910 and 1926, when she and Mrs. Dunn lived in Bargersville. Following the death of her husband in 1926, she returned to her former home to live with her daughter, Mrs. Omer Dunn.
She is also survived by two other daughters, Mrs. A. D. Stewart of Needham, RR; Mrs. W. O. Dunn, of Bargersville, and a son, Frank Hardin, of Franklin. Other survivors are 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
