Ray Sterling passed away Wednesday February 20, 2002. William Ray Sterling was born in the heat of the summer, July 27, 1908 at home east of Rock Hill, TX His parents, Henry Lawson Sterling and Narissa Alice (Goodnight) Sterling owned a farm in Collin County south of Prosper from 1905-1951. Ray was a graduate from Frisco High School 11th grade and Prosper High School 10th Grade, the highest offerings at both schools, finishing at Frisco with the class of 1927.

Ray was a full-time farmer/rancher, carpenter, father, gentleman and good friend. He and wife Minnie lived on their farm east of Frisco since 1940. Ray was a member of the First Methodist Church in Frisco in his adult life, serving as Treasure for 12 years, 1952-1964. Ray also served as board member for the Famer's Co-Op Gin Association, Frisco School Board of Trustees 1942-1946 and Frisco Youth Center from the beginning to 1965.

Known as Daddy, "Daddy Ray" by his children, great grandchildren and young friends, he was proceeded in death by one granddaughter, Jamie Rae Sterling, and one great granddaughter, Amanda Griffin. William Ray Sterling is survived by his wife of 71 years, Minnie Esther Roberson Sterling, and five children, Thelma Rae Griffin, James (Jamie) Sterling, Homer Glen Sterling, Billy Pat Sterling, Nancy Ellen Tyler, 11 surviving grandchildren, Tim Griffin, Chris Griffin, Bo Griffin, Barry Griffin, Shawn Sterling, Liesl Triplett, Colette Tjernagel, Kim Lang, Bridget Carpenter, Tiffany Lacy and Bryan Sterling and 24 great grandchildren.
