The funeral for Mrs. Vernie L. Balentine Brown will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. At New Jenny Ridge Pentecostal Church with Rev. Elijah Balentine officiating. Burial will follow in the New Jenny Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home today (Tuesday) from 5 to 8 p.m. And at the church from 11 a.m. Until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
Mrs. Brown, 82, Murray, died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital. She was the oldest member of New Jenny Ridge Pentecostal Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Lee Brown; one sister, Georgia (Dolly) Litchfield; two brothers, Roy Lee Balentine and Billy J. Balentine; one grandson, Roy L. Travis. Born April 2, 1927, in Trigg County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Felix Balentine and Mancy Baker Balentine.
Survivors include three daughters, Billie R. Reed and Shirley J. Jones and husband, Delmer, all of Murray, and Mildred L. Loe and husband, Jim II, Paducah; one son, Robert C. Brown and wife, Donna, Ledbetter; one sister, Anna L. Pinnegar, Paducah; 11 grandchildren, Kenneth Travis, Paducah, Chris Reed, Kuttawa, James R. Brown, Mexico, Ky., Crystal Warren, Reidland, Dana Brown, Ledbetter, Kevin Reed, Benton, Bryan Reed, Mayfield, Shawn Hudspeth, Golo, Shelly Spiker, Murray, and Jimmy Loe III and Todd Tabers, Paducah; 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren
