Madelyn H. Azer, 80, of Canajoharie, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Palatine Nursing Home. Mrs. Azer was born and educated in Cobleskill and had lived in the Canajoharie area for the past 60 years. On Feb. 2, 1931, she was married to Clarence Bernstein. He died in 1971. She married Clifford H Azer on Aug. 19, 1972. She had been employed at Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp, for many years, retiring in 1973. Survivors, besides her widower, include two sons, Bruce Bernstein of Brandywine, MD and Robert Bernstein of Nelliston; a daughter Barbara Fassett of Cherry Valley; two sisters, Janet Rivenburg of Cobleskill and Joyce Yerdon of Palatine; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was conducted Saturday, Oct. 7, at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, Canajoharie. Burial was in Fort Plain Cemetery. No calling hours were observed.
